We felt almost guilty stripping the Astro down to a shell since the interior was in such good shape. The idea of the finished camper van was enough to get us past the guilt though. With the "help" of our niece and nephew, we got stuck in!
We then laid down Pink Panther insulation board over the Peel and Seal. We used the old carpet as a template to make cutting easier and precise around the seat mounting points and wheel arches. We have decided to cover over the mounts for the middle set row, as we will not be using one.
Here Bex is putting down a layer of Reflectix over the Pink foam board. Reflectix is basically bubble wrap sandwiched between two metallic layers.
The reason we layered this way is the Peel and Seal will help stop some of the road noise coming through the floor. The Pink foam board will isolate the conductive metal from everything above it and the Reflectix should reflect the conditioned hot or cold back into the van. Some will comment on the Reflectix not working without an air layer, this may be true but we had it anyway and more insulation can't be a bad thing.
