I love visiting local flea markets and antique shops when we travel. While visiting my parents, on the border of Michigan, I found this gorgeous marble table for $25. Yes, $25! I have a soft spot for anything marble because it reminds me of Turkey. This particular table has a mid century modern feel. The table legs are a little unsteady, so Brad will replace them with hair pin legs. I also found that darling little tea cup and saucer for $8! I'm a sucker for a cuppa, especially when it comes in a cute cup!
Like me, my parents hoard furniture. My mom especially has a penchant for buying quirky antique pieces. Sometimes I walk through their attic and barn to see if there is anything I want to acquire. The small dresser has actually been in our family for over 80 years. My great-grandfather made it for my grandma when she was a little girl. It was used to hold her doll clothes until she grew up. She later used it as her sewing cabinet. It was left to my parents after she passed away. My mom used it as a sewing cabinet for awhile, but eventually put it in storage because of it's poor condition. I've had my eye on this dresser since I was a little girl. The third drawer down is where my grandma stashed candy! With a little coaxing, my mom agreed to let me take it home with me. The wood unfortunately could not be repaired well enough for it to be re-stained, so I've gone with a dusty lilac shade instead. Paired with these blue knobs I found at World Market, it is now stunning! I've carried on the family tradition by making this a crafts dresser. I think my grandma would have been pleased with the way it turned out and how I am using it.
